A Letter from the Superintendent

Dr. Evelyn W. Jossell

Dear Parents, Students, and Stakeholders:

Welcome to the new Quitman County School District website! We are extremely excited about the many great things happening in the district. The web site is one of several tools we will use to keep the community informed of current news and events within the school district. We strive daily to provide a fair and equitable education to all students to support our vision of educational excellence that will lead to the positive development of 21st Century learners and leaders.

We believe that we exist to nurture and develop greatness within every student, every day, in every possible way. Our goal is to achieve this task through the following:

  • Focused and dedicated leadership
  • High expectations for staff and students
  • Safe and orderly learning environments
  • Continuous monitoring and adherence to educational best practices
  • Seamless collaboration from the cradle to college
  • Connected stakeholders
  • Transparency at all levels

Undoubtedly, we are faced with many challenges; but the challenges are not unconquerable. It will require engaging the entire community working together to develop all students for college and the world of work. To this end, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all of the parents, community stakeholders, the Quitman County Board of Education, faculty, and staff for their unyielding support as I transition into my new role as Superintendent of Education. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes from John F. Kennedy during his 1968 bid for presidency, “Some people choose to see things as they are-I choose to dream about things that aren’t.” My choice is to envision an “A” level school district and schools, in spite of whatever odds we may currently face. We CAN, as a collective group of believers and doers, make exciting things happen for students in the Quitman County School District!

With warmest regards,

Dr. Evelyn W. Jossell,
Superintendent Quitman County School District
